Hammonds & Harleys
Or "What I Do In My Spare Time"!!

This is my B2 (L), probably a '53, w/Trek Percussion. I picked this one up in Spokane and in it's previous life, it was in a wedding chapel. It is hooked up to dark 21H (below) which I keep guarded by a scary Indonesian carving!! Here is a top view of the same organ (Bottom L). I find this the most interesting place to play, looking out over Okanagan Lake, and you can see me playing (Below R, under the Leslie) with my daughter, Andrea (7 at the time).

The "gig" organ is an A-100, about a '64 (above and L), hooked up to a Leslie 145 and a Leslie 760. I mic the 145 with two Shure 57's on the top and an AKG on the bottom going into the Peavey PA & a 300W powered Peavey Subwoofer w/18" Black Widow. The 760 seems to blast out enough volume and the sub gives some incredible bottom end!! I use a Roland digital piano on top of the Hammond but seem to never use all the midi sounds with the Roland Sequencer that I also have attached. Straight piano and straight Hammond for me!! Any vocals I do are through a Peavey mic. Here's Andrea again playing the A-100 (top L) and the gig stuff above. This one is in the garage where the band practices where I send everything through a 1500 watt Peavey amp going into two more Peavey subwoofers, each w/18" Black Widows and two Peavey top end units w/15" and horn drivers.  To the right is my first Hammond, a '57 C3 from the Westbank United Church. I have it set up in my home office with two Leslie 21H's, one with a 2 speed conversion. It sounds GREAT in the relatively small room!! This one is probably my favorite but they all sound different. To the left is my latest buy…...a Hammond CV w/21H from the Westbank Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

The Old Band

This is us (someone called us the Derelicts for this one), at the Vernon Sunshine Festival, June '99. Man, was it HOT!! I just brought the Roland along as the Hammond and Leslie are too heavy for shorter gigs. There I am in the back right with the other guitar, bass, vocals, and drummer. We tended to play a selection of our own tunes with minimal cover tunes. We have since found that there is little time to consistently play so I play with an everchanging group of local musicians and still have as much fun as possible with the limited time available.

Here I am, on the right, after getting dragged up on stage at our big Re/Max Christmas party. I prefer to not play what I call "Spammond's", like this Korg CX3 Hammond clone but I have to admit that I have finally bought a Roland VK7 for those times when hauling the real thing is out of the question. The Korg had no feeling and it sounds lousy…...but it was fun!
Below right, I am waiting before a gig. At the bottom left is a shot playing the Hammond from my 2000 Summer Party where we had a really good time playing on the shore of Okanagan Lake.....and we didn't get rained out!!! The 1999 party was a disaster, weatherwise, but everyone still had a GREAT time!!!

Here's the whole family on our Harley's.....................Michelle rides a custom Sportster & I have a Softtail. Note that, even while I am out having fun, I STILL have my pager on and SELLING YOUR PROPERTY COMES FIRST!!!
